Billy Butterbaugh

Billy (Bill) is a Michigan born, self taught artist, and a Marine Corps veteran. He creates with oil paint, the timeless rich medium of the masters! His preferred surfaces are canvas, and canvas board. Inspired by artists, of very unique styles, such as Claude Mone and Salvador Dali; Bill takes an approach that mixes elements of surrealism, steampunk, with a more impressionistic landscape style.

Bill was born in Garden City, Michigan in 1976, and it only took 41 years to find his love for oil painting! In 2017 his wife, Lisa, gave him the gift of painting as a Christmas gift. The supplies sat for a year while he carved wood, walking sticks and canes. He decided to try his hand at painting in 2018 and he hasn’t looked back since!

The joy of knowing that each piece will become part of a special families home motivates him. That something he created will live on and continue to bring color to art lovers lives for generations to come. He thinks of each piece as a world. Maybe one is for you?
