ARTIST RIGHTS & TERMS

At the Veteran Art Institute (VAI), your art is your art.
We exist to showcase and support veteran artists — not to own or profit from your work.

Your Rights

  • You retain full ownership and copyright of all artwork you upload.

  • Uploading your work to VAI does not transfer ownership to us.

  • You may sell, license, exhibit, or remove your artwork at any time.

How VAI Uses Your Art

  • By uploading your work, you give VAI permission to:

    • Display your artwork on the VAI website and gallery

    • Share your work in VAI promotions (social media, newsletters, press, or exhibitions)

  • This permission is non-exclusive, meaning you can share and show your work anywhere else you choose.

  • VAI will never sell, license, or reproduce your artwork for profit without your explicit permission.

Credit & Attribution

  • All artwork is displayed with artist attribution and linked to your profile.

  • We take care to respect your creative identity and represent your work accurately.

Plagiarism & Protection

  • Copyright protection is automatic when your artwork is created — formal registration is optional.

  • While no online platform can guarantee total protection against misuse, VAI:

    • Clearly attributes all artwork to its creator

    • Maintains upload records

    • If an issue arises, we will work with you to address it.

Our Promise

  • VAI will never claim ownership of your work.

  • We are committed to maintaining a respectful, secure platform for veteran artists.

  • Our mission is visibility, community, and advocacy — your art, your voice, your story.

Content Guidelines for Artists

As creators, it's important to remember the profound impact your work can have on your audience. Art has the power to inspire, provoke thought, and evoke emotions, but it should always be approached with sensitivity and responsibility.

We kindly request that you refrain from showcasing any offensive content in your art, including overtly political, sexual, or torturous themes. While art can be a platform for self-expression and commentary on society, it's crucial to strike a balance that respects the diverse perspectives and sensibilities of your viewers by choosing to create art that is inclusive, respectful, and free from explicit or harmful themes.

Thank you for your consideration and commitment to creating art that uplifts and enlightens.
