Martin W. Flynn III is an American craftsman, visual artist, and storyteller whose work is rooted in craftsmanship, narrative, and the development of a personal visual language. Working primarily in mixed media pyrography, painting, natural science illustration, and his original visual language, Shapism, Flynn creates works that preserve history, celebrate the natural world, and explore the experiences that shape us. Shapism embraces spontaneous geometric freedom through figurative illustrative polygons, balancing structure with intuition while allowing each composition to evolve organically. Every burn, brushstroke, and line is intentional, reflecting a belief that meaningful art is earned through patience, discipline, and skilled hands.
