About the Artist:
U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 1968-1972.
I’ve had an interest in creating art since I was young but did not approach it seriously until I left the Navy. I studied under a renowned portrait painter in Maine and majored in Fine Art at Wichita State University.
My specialty is portraiture and I have been fortunate to receive some recognition for my work which is held in private collections from coast to coast.
When I was young ( I was 12 yrs old when Maris hit 61) I collected baseball cards. Back then it was a boy’s hobby. That is no longer the case. Collecting is now too pricey for my budget. So, instead of buying cards I make them. I am currently creating a series of 2.5” x 3.5” baseball cards, some made of layers of thin basswood and others painted in oil on fine linen. They have met with some success on eBay. To date I’ve made nearly a hundred cards predominately focused on Hall of Famers.
